Hi all,
It seems a lot of players from the SS started playing 6-max lately. Sfer, Saborion, Trix, Joker122 and Alobar are a few examples. It seems we all have the same kind of questions and problems when we try to adjust to this game. Like the regulars know, I made a few posts a couple of weeks ago with a bazillion questions and hands. Some were easy to answer, some were not. Because I went throught the same process about 2 months ago, I thought it would be a good idea to make a post about these kind of questions. Here are some links from posts I made, maybe they show the same kind of problems you have at the moment: this and this one. I also had a bazilion questions about blind stealing and playing in the blinds. I knew that in full ring games this was/is one of my biggest leaks. I was/am terrible in defending, stealing goes a lot better now. Anyway here's a post I made at the time. I knew that I needed to lower my raising standards, but how low? I knew pairs and high cards go up in value, but how much? Here's a post I made about starting hands. Maybe these two threads from David Ross will also help you with your starting hands: this and this one. Don't forget the swing are huge. I dropped a 150BB in the first 2 weeks or so. Sometimes you lose 100BB in just 2 hours and a day later you win it all back in just 3 hours. It's part of the game and you better get used to it although it sucks. I hope this helps... If you know any good threads feel free to add them. Just read a lot, play a lot and post a lot and you will all do fine. Good luck, Guido |

Nice post. All very true as well. At times the 6 max is horrible you can get killed big time. But played correctly for sustained periods it can be very profitable. I am in the middle of a 150bb downswing and its frustrating but you know the chasers will pay you back with interest in time.
Good luck to anyone starting in 6 max games. Take it easy. |

Some what of a side but I think that moving to 6Max does such wonders for your game advancement In the last 2 weeks of roughly 10k hands at SH i've had the most fun playing since I started not to mention my poker skills have come leaps and bounds.
I don't know how I could go back now to the slow grind of full ring. |

This is exactly how I feel, and pretty much everyone who's ever played Party 6 max feels the same way.

I don't know how I could go back now to the slow grind of full ring. [/ QUOTE ] if u are playing 4 tables of short-handed games now, u can play 8 tables of full rings but if u are already playing 8 tables of short like me, u are kind of out of luck, unless u can do 16 tables effectively, which i imagine to be little difficult Kenny |

I don't know how I could go back now to the slow grind of full ring. [/ QUOTE ] I have heard of people having great success table hopping short games at the full ring games since most of the players there have no good idea on how to adjust to shorthanded situations. (Of course, I think most here would agree that most of the people playing at the six max tables are in the same boat ) At any rate, I would never do that since I make an entry in my book and spreadsheet for every table I sit down at and I would hate making 10 times the entries I make now. Anyone ever try this tact? |
