Default 100 Million dollar 6-player tournament

I know that there somewhere is a topic on this one, but I can't find it.

It seems that there is a $100M buy-in, 6 player tournament scheduled for '08. There is a $10 million buy in tourney being arranged right now but i believe they only have 1 or 2 players. It is winner take all with a $60,000,000 prize going to the winner.

I was reading this on cardplayer and someone wrote this:

When I was on the UB World Poker Challenge TV table last July, I was lucky enough to have dinner with Matt Savage and the VP of Fox Sports and the VP was setting up this deal while we ate....We also got to meet the owners of the Crown Casino in Australlia (cool guys man ). Well while we ate he mentioned a couple names.....at this point I think he was throwing name out as "potential", but here is what he said: Phil Ivey, Doyle, Hellmuth, Chau Giang, Andy Beal, Daniel Negreanu, Johnny Chan, Sammy Farha and he also talked of a online qualifier for one no namer.

[/ QUOTE ]

What do you think of this format? Is it absurd, will this be the top of the mountain in poker regarding popularity? I like the idea, but it's getting way out of control with these big/bigger/biggest things.

No way any of these players besides Beal has $100 million. Whatever you read is wrong; probably confused with the $10 million buy-in tournament Ivey was trying to get going.

I'm pretty sure Doyle could buy into a 100million$ tournament many times over.

This tournament would never happen, short of having Trump, Gates and 4 other rich men picking out a pro to go at it for fun. You can't play good poker unless you are comfortable with losing the money that you've put up. Even if you could find 6 pros that could bankroll themselves, there is no way they would because they are all smart people who realize that a bad beat would put them in the poor house and they could not escape some hands they are involved in.

And to whoever said below that Doyle has over a few hundred million dollars to blow, think about how unrealistic that is.

Your kidding right. Doyle Brunson is the greatest poker player ever. HE IS A LEGEND. There is no doubt that this skill has made him BILLIONS. Think about it. He is the greatest ever. And, he played in the old texas road games, he isn't another internet wannabee.

I've been told by a few older gentleman that have known Doyle for 50 years (I live in Texas, and, the poker scene is a pretty tight knit group as far as the undeground clubs that have reputations go), and one of them told me in confidence that Doyle was probably worth around 100 million.

So, no, he doesn't have 100 million to blow, but, he is probably the richest poker player ever, with Chip Reese being a very close second.
