How many 2-4 3-6 hands to start to make a profit?
After reviewing some PP 2-4 and 3-6 limit plays from yesterday, I noticed several things:
1. Noone actually seemed to win much at all if anything over all. 2. The best anyone seemed to be doing was to be up $20 or eventually deplete their roll. 3. The blinds seemed to be taking everyone's roll. Considering that your paying B+BB every round, isn't there a 'point of no profit' in the sense that all you're really doing is paying blinds and not winning enough to cover them? I played tight but found myself wanting to play looser just because of all the blinds I was forking out for deuces and fours..and similar junk. Wow...
It may be that you need to do a lot of reading (books and this board) and not really that much playing in order to get better. An hour reading these boards can be worth about a week's worth of play for a beginning LHE player. |

2) after how long? typically, a good player brings in 2BB/100 hands playing at one table, and given 2/4 at 60 hands an hour, that is $5/hr.
"point of no profit" is vague. in regards to skill of your opponents, there is a PONP: if your opponents are all slightly worse than you, you'll break even; if they are all equal, then you all will lose over time. What do you mean? you cannot play more hands simlpy because of the blinds, rather, only when the situation warrants it. Elaborate on your post more and maybe someone will give a worthwhile answer. |

After how long - about 2.5 hours.
So - If you're a good player you should expect to make $5/hr? I believe you but it sure seems like a hard living! Thanks for your contructive feedback. I am new as you can tell and downloaded poker tracker which pointed out my personal mistakes. |

Sorry for another silly question, but does the fact that a good player bring in 2BB/100 hands mean that the only people making any money at poker are playing at least $20BB? Thanks, Darth Holdem |

BTW 2BB/100 is an amazing pace for a begginer, don't expect this right away especially playing online. Poker is all about long term trends not short term results; you'll need tens of thousands of hands to determine your winrate. |
