Default No Limit Hold \'em: Theory and Practice OR Professional No-Limit Hold

One thing ive never really grasped in poker is the theory behind equity/fold equity/implied odds etc.

I understand how these work, but never really got to grips with applying them to my game. I want to learn more about the maths and theory behind these and more so I can understand the posts people make analyzing a hand + ranges etc.

Which book would be most useful to me?

Cheers
Ash.

For those concepts, neither. They aren't strictly NL hold'em concepts. They apply to all poker games.

Grab yourself a copy of Theory of Poker.

Then you probably will be interested in NLTAP.

It is really good. I also agree with reading TOP as it covers all the theory and NLTAP is more just applying it to NLTAP. I don't mean to oversimplify but that is basically it.

Of the two you listed NLHTP is better suited for your interest. However, I must agree that TOP is the perfect choice to cover these topics.

I have exactly the same problem as you, and i wanted to buy a couple of books to deal with this problem. I am glad to hear that TOP and NLH:TaP are the best books on this subject, because i was just ordering them at a online bookstore

I would buy both, I have NLTAP which I am currently reading and PNL is on its way.

You can never have too many poker books
