Now when I finally got the hand converter working, here goes. 3 biggest $ winners and 3 biggest $ losers from yesterday. ANY comments would be wellcome. For background, I study SSHE constantly, and try to apply it. My pre-flop pay is strictly from SSHE charts although I last night found a leak as I had mis-read BB section of the charts. I recently was on a 3 week holiday when I read SSHE A LOT, especially the quizzes, and when I came back moved up to $1/$2 limit, have been playing it now for one week only, and am up ~$100, started with $150-160. I started playing first time late April or so, in micro limits. I am sure I have made tonnes of errors when copy-pasting and mixed up plays, sorry for that, next time I will post one hand per post.

As in, he was spewing chips all over the place.
I started a serious reply, but... it's pointless. For starters I simply do not understand these games; people get a pair and start capping... so call down anything, I guess. And among these people is you. Then when they are actually likely to have the best hand, they don't value bet because they are afraid to get raised! Yes, that's a big risk; however, 3 betting and calling a raise on a flush board luckily is not. |

HoneyBadger, fair point, and to hear it that is why I posted, to get critisism. But my 1st example, I had the best hand/nuts and I put in as much bets and raises as I could.
What you say makes perfect sense but the difficulty seems to be reading and studying and trying to use those concepts in practise. In the heat of the moment often for a beginner it all becomes a blur, self-discipline is needed and that may come only through long time practise. But what is interesting is reading SSHE or Theory of Poker and seeing some of the concepts work in real life. You read and read but every now and then it sinks in, for example the other day I realised I had been giving others too much credit, always checking out what is the nuts and assuming someone had it - otherwise they wouldn't have been betting, right? well, most of the time, I found out not, so I tried to value bet even my marginal hands. Looks to me when I revise SSHE and then play, I do better but must deviate in a few days time since my results get worse. Anyway, it's an interesting hobby for me and I enjoy reading these forums at 2+2---I prefer the analytical aspect Sklansky et al bring to the game. Thanks for your feed-back - next time I will post on the bbv as advised. |

don't post on bbv if you're looking for serious comments. It works best to post a single hand that represents some issue you've been wondering about. Then we can give proper comments.

Thanks for your feed-back - next time I will post on the bbv as advised. [/ QUOTE ] No, don't do that. His point was more that some of the hands you posted aren't worth posting. In your first hand, you flopped the nuts and bet and raised at every opportunity. There's not much to comment on there. Focus on posting hands where you have tougher decisions. These often will not be the hands where you won or lost the most money. -McGee |

Hand 1: obviously fine.
Hand 2: "Mystery to me why river got checked thru. Perhaps I was scared of K and did not want to get c/r'ed." I think you can find a bet here, but checking behind isn't terrible with all those opponents taking all that heat on the turn. Hand 3: "me c/r:ing here failed, I believed someone made K set on the river." If you thought someone hit a set, why were you going for the checkraise? Bet/call the river. Hand 4: The "Clarkmeister" line is to bet out, but if you don't feel comfortable folding to a raise with such a strong hand (trip kings), you're better off check-calling. Unless your opponent is very wild; then you can bet in the hopes of calling a raise. Hand 5, I can't tell what happened. Hand 6: Just call the river. If you're going to raise, you MUST fold to a three-bet. -McGee |
