10 person sng, payouts 30-18-12 (peanuts to most, i know)
down to final 4, blinds 200/400 big stack - 9.5k guy a - 1k guy b - 2k me - 2.5k big stack in 1stp pushes allin (as he has been doing quite frequently shorthanded, without much resistance), guy a folds, guy b folds in sb, comes to me in bb with pkt 66. he previously had to show down his hand once (jts)when guy b doubled up off him. despite the big stack having so many chips, i don't really think all too highly of his play, and am pretty confident in my chances of beating him if i get to heads up with at least half his chips (the more the better). long story short, i was almost certain i wasn't up against a better pkt pair and most likely just 2 overcards, and decided to call instead of playing for 2nd/3rd. he showed down a5o, my 66 held up, and i doubled to nearly 5.5k. within 10 minutes after, i had indeed won it all. but was it the right move if played the same over the long run? thoughts? |

I would Call in this position. Go heads-up and take the pot down.
You can only go 4 more orbits before being blinded out. You almost have no choice. |

I wouldn't say you don't have a choice. In fact you have a very clear choice imo.
Do you want to play to win, or do you want to play to get paid. I think in your position you could outlast at least one of the other two shorter stacks, however its possible you would be left in a crippling position to do so. If you want to play to win, then you did a coin flip and came out in front to give yourself a shot at first. Good call for doing what I presume you wanted to do. |

equity win tie
{ 22+, ATs+, KTs+, QTs+, JTs, A2o+, KTo+, QTo+, JTo } 47.056% 46.59% 00.46% { 6c6d } 52.944% 52.48% 00.46% Based on your description, I'd figure his range at this point is any broadway, any pair, and any ace. Vs that range, you are about a 53% favorite to win. So, call. You are getting better than 1:1 on your money thanks to the blinds, and you are better than 1:1 vs his hand range. |

[/ QUOTE ] this range is way too tight. I'd say throw in suited connectors, and J7s+ Q7+ K7o+ maybe even weak hands like 57o?? OP, I'd say calling would be a good play, b/c all it takes is one double up (for the other shortstack) and all of the sudden there is 10x more pressure on you. (and 10x less likely that you will have success getting ITM) |
