Default How bad did I play? 2 unrelated hands

No particular question. Posting because of possible multiple mistakes. In hand 1 , villian is something like 18/8 over 40 hands . In Hand 2 Villian had just sat down and raised his first 3 of 6 hands. Hand 2 is really hard for me to evaluate.

Hand 1: Re-raise pre-flop and the rest of the hand plays itself. As played, you did fine.

Hand 2: Not good. This is push or fold. Being out of position after having invested 1/3 of your stack pre-flop sucks.

I am new palying NL and tournament poker so with that in mind I have to ask why the all-in on the river?? Given the villan is a tight player what hands do you think he riases with pre-flop and calls the flop and turn with? I think he only calls with hands that beat you. Thus I check the river?

hand 1: i rr to 2500

as played on the flop i cr to 2500. which will v likely give ya a free card. i raise to 3500 on the turn leaving irresistable odds on the river.

hand 2:

a read on villains opening from late position would be awsome. against typical opponents i push as a resteal.

what hands do you think he raises pf with? a hand with a 3, 8, 5? all unlikely

i give villain a range of 88+, AT+, KQ

hands that beat you in that range 88, QQ
hands you beat in that range 99, TT, JJ, KK, AA, AT, AJ, AQ, AK, KQ

errr...push it in

I don't mind hand 1, I'd probably re-raise to 2k preflop but sometimes I don't, depends on how tight I've been recently.

You can't play hand 2 the way you did though, you have to push or fold. Pushing results in him having to make a decision to play a hand for half of his stack, and given his likely hand range for opening where he is you are probably ahead. You cannot however, re-raise for 1/3 of your stack OOP when the blinds are where they are.

Hand 2:

Two options I think:

1) Push all-in, as suggested by other posters. In most cases an Ace with a dubious kicker will fold. KQ may fold. You can race with pairs from TT downwards. So you are only really afraid of AA-JJ plus AK.

2) [depends on your image vs Villain's style]. Flat call and check-raise all in. In this case you may only get called by AJ-AK plus AA. Pocket pairs lower than AA may fold.

The number of times you run into 88 or QQ does not equal the number of times someone calls with an overpair or a bad diamond because they feel pot committed. I shove...

The first hand seems pretty trivial except for maybe a reraise on the flop. I'd like to see a bit of a bigger raise on the flop, but other than that, the hand played itself.

On the second hand, unless you are making a move, you are seriously overvaluing KJo- it might warrant a call at most, but certainly not a reraise. I think a continuation bet is necessary in this spot (especially if he called with some middle pair, TT, QQ, etc. and is scared off by the ace) so that's fine, and you of course have to fold to the all in

He wasnt raising KJ for value here, this was a resteal. I probably just push preflop, but I dont mind your raise here. On the flop you gotta stick the rest in. Bet/fold is the worst line you can take here.

And Hand 1 looks fine, except I bet more like 3500-4000 on the turn to price him in.
