Default Fold equity!!!!!

Hey everyone I had a question. I was watching some LATB episodes and they mentioned fold equity. What does that mean?

Default Re: Fold equity!!!!!

Whenever you bluff at a pot, you can win in one of three ways:

1) Your opponent folds a better hand.
2) Your opponent calls with a better hand, but you draw out & beat him anyway.
3) Your opponent calls with a worse hand and you hold up.

Folding equity is your best estimate of how often the first condition will occur. Many things can affect your folding equity in a given hand--the type of player you're up against, how scary the board looks (assuming you're talking about postflop), your own table image (if you've been caught bluffing before your folding equity often diminishes), and of course the cards your opponent actually holds.
