foxwoods 4/8, you know it
Hero has Pocket Ninas (99) in the Big blind 4 limpers and small blind completes. Hero checks Flop K 8 3 rainbow. (6 playas) Hero checks, early position player bets, 2 callers, SB folds, hero folds. Better line? |

Raise pre-flop with five limpers. You want to maximise the size of the pot if you hit your set. The flop is pretty awful, but you have more fold equity if you bet into the field after a raise. Fold the turn UI if there is much action behind you. Since you didn't raise pre-flop the argument for the check fold is a lot stronger.

Raise preflop because you have the best hand and an equity edge.
Flop is fine. |

flop is fine, but i think it is a question or not if you want to raise preflop? anyone want to argue?
we have the equity edge but the bad part is we are out of position for the rest of the streets. I will just check it. |

i don't mind not raising it pre at the 4/8. i don't know that it will buy you the free turn if you do?

I'm raising 22+ here. If I hit a set, I want the pot to be big enough to encourage my opponents to stick around for a round or two.
