For every quarter-pound hamburger made from rainforest beef, 55 square feet of rainforest are destroyed. To date, probably the most reliable and widely-accepted water estimate to produce a pound of beef is the figure of 2,500 gallons. It's also very inhumane and wasteful. Since male chickens don't lay eggs, they are useless offspring to the egg industry. So all male chicks are unused, and basically thrown away in the vast majority of factory farms. Below is a picture of a dumpster of thrown away baby chicks, they are just thrown away, usualy alive.   Most animals never go outside, never see day light, and are kept in cages so small they can't turn around.

If you post things like this, I might consider feeling bad about eating meat. I much prefer to ignore the problem and thus pretend it doesn't exist. That's the American way!
