"I could care less" - I tried explaining to a co-worker that she means she couldn't care less, but she didn't care.
"Literally" - used for exaggeration, but rarely ever used to mean literally. I am watching past Super Bowl highlights now - and the narrator just said "he was literally facing a Catch 22" - really, like a copy of the famous novel was on the defensive line? And this isn't grammatical, rather spelling, but definately...I would estimate 30-40% of Americans do not know how to correctly spell definitely. What grammatical errors really piss you off? |

Not errors at all, but the "u", "ure" and "pwn" squad kind of look silly.
I'm a bit annoyed with people who don't know the difference between "there", "their" and "they're" Oh. Now it's kind of obvious...the number one pet peeve: "should of" |

I absolute hate it when someone says 'less' when they should be saying 'fewer'. At least 80% of the population does it. Example: "there are less calories in fatass food A than fatass food B"

There is a lot of situations where you should use two words in English but combine it into one in Norwegian, i.e. ice cream = iskrem. Due to all the communication taking place in Norway in English and a lack of compability for this in Windows spelling control now something like 30% have started writing "is krem".

I used to correct people on that one, but it became impossible because people did it too often, so now I just cringe every time I hear it. |

The other day at work, my co-worker wanted a "word of the day" for her white board. I told her the word "comely" - she begins writing "cum..." I am like no, it is "come" then "ly."
"What does it mean?" she asks "The opposite of homely" "What does homely mean?" "Unattractive" "So comely means attractive?" "Yes" "You're so smart" "I know, I can even spell there 3 different ways" "Really?!" |
