Default Poker room comp system - how to keep track of played hours?

Hi group,

our cardroom is working on a comp/rakeback/affiliate system and I would like to hear your input on how this is done in the larger cardrooms in the states.

We have up to 20 cash games running at once and keeping track manually is impossible. Do places like Borgata hand out comp cards which are checked in and out by the dealers at the table? If so, does anyone have an idea what system they use?

Regards,

RegBarclay

B&M comps are usually tracked at the front desk. players swipe in and out and the amount of time spent in the room is recorded (and management can vary comp rates by game stakes as needed). if you don't have the technology budget, handwritten time cards can work too - almost like a punch clock at work.

a few places also put barcodes on cards and someone comes by to scan every player once every 30 or 60 minutes.

What is the budget for this? I know of ways to like a time clock up to card readers on the table that the dealer swipes.

Bellagio gives you a small paper card that the floor writes the start time on. When you leave, he writes the end time. There's potential for abuse in that someone can sneak out and then sneak back in several hours later, but generally speaking, you would probably be noticed. This is for the poker rate. Comps may use the players card, I'm not sure.

This is the worst solution. For some reason or another I hate having to bust out the card every 30 min which is basically like announcing to the tourists, "I am a regular".

Set up a system where either your card is swiped as you first come into the room for the day then swiped as you leave.

If you want to be nitty about it, invest some cash into a swipe at each table so that the dealer swipes you as you come into and eventually leave a game.

In Los Angeles, players have cards, and once an hour a girl comes by and swipes the cards.

At some casinos I've seen that have comp cards, and you give your card to the brush who swipes you in, then you swipe out when you're done playing.

I like the latter system as a player, as you get your full time counted.

Also, I'd think it's cheaper to implement as a small room.

What happens if you forget to swipe your card on the way out of the room? Do they not give any credit, or do they try and guess what time you left?

Imperial Palace holds your card, so you need to grab it before you leave.

Don't know what Tualip does if you forget.

often the former, so be sure you remember to clock out.
