I've tried the free download from Pokertracker and there's a ton of info. Probably too much. I tried Poker-edge, and while it was easier to use, it didn't seem totally accurate. It also seems like you have to get 2 or 3 other programs to run with it.
I know there are other tools out there, though I don't know what they are. If you were going to invest in one of these - or another - what would it be and why? |

Well I have PokerTracker and probably like 99% of 2p2 has it too. What do you mean there's too much info? It gives you a lot of useful information, did it just seem overwhelming at first? Believe me that the info it gives you can be extremely helpful in catching your own leaks and exploiting your opponents. The only other software I can think of is PokerOffice (never used it).

Poker Office is pretty popular if you don't like Poker Tracker, I guess Poker Office has a lot of info/stats too though. I'm not sure why you think there's too much information though, it's not like you have to use everything or know what every stat mean.

If you play NLHE and find PT overwhelming, check out the first (I think) thread on here:

You'll get used to PT after you work with the program for a little while. Get PA Hud for your Heads up display... The improvment in your poker game will pay for these two programs.

There are a lot of old threads on the comparisons which typically boil down to: PokerTracker supports more sites; Poker Office has a more intuitive UI. If you get PT, you'll also need to get PA HUD for the heads up display. PO already has a built-in HUD. I did the trial versions of each and chose the one I liked better; that's what you should probably do too. |

I can't imagine that PAHUD would be all that useful to someone just starting with PT. I'm about to invest in PAHUD and once you've learned the PT stats and their interpretation, it's obviously a gold mine. But for someone overwhelmed by PT, it'd just be shelfware for a while until you learned PT well enough to benefit.
PT without PAHUD is of course still very valuable. When you get to the point that you're saying, "I'm sick of pulling up the Game Time view manually," then it's time to buy PAHUD. I'd suggest building one's software collection incrementally, not all at once. |

Hud tells you enough about the opponets to know how they play, post flop agression and preflop looseness VPIP. get hud. |

PT tells you your opponents' "post flop agression and preflop looseness VPIP". PAHUD displays it in a more convenient format so you don't have to manage multiple apps at once every time you make a decision. Am I missing something?
If the OP is confused by what VP$IP is, then all the convenience of display in the world isn't going to help him use that information until he learns to interpret it. |
