Villain is new to the table. Looks like he may be a semi-fish, but not like a fish in the Bellagio 10/20.
Game is currently 7 handed: Villain (~$3000) opens for $75 UTG-2 Hero (~$9000) raises to $250 UTG-1 w/ AK Folded around to Villain Villain re-raises $200 more to $450. I think for a little and decided I would take a flop with position VS him. Flop ($935) AKQ - rainbow Villain leads out for $400 He never really hesitated throughout this hand, but at the same time, he didn't look like money was an issue for him (Rich doctor from LA). BTW, he bought in for $5000 Hero? |

Yeah I dont mind a fold preflop or flop either. [/ QUOTE ] I think folding top 2 here is terrible. I mean there's a chance you are behind, but there's a much bigger chance that you are ahead IMO. Why can't villain have AQ, AJ, or worse in this spot. He doesn't necessarily have the case two aces or the case two kings. I think folding is a horrible option here. Its either call or raise, but I'm willing to get all my money in here in this spot. I raise to 1400, and obviously call to a push. |

Given the action preflop and then leading out into that flop, it is obvious that I have put the Villain on a different hand range than you guys.

If Villian is a level 3 thinker then he has probably put hero on QQ,JJ,TT or AK
he's going to take it down vs 2 and get alot of money in vs 2 what hands would a semi thinking player want to do this with given the preflop action? i'm preety sure the only hands he can have here are QQ,KK,AA or AK... does this semi-minreraise here seem like something this doctor would do with garbage? i'm going to assume no given LD's reads where do we draw the line with putting money into this pot? we're gonna put 400 in on the flop which means the villian has a pot sized amount left, thats gonna make the turn a really fun decision if the 3 of nothing comes off the deck. So raise or fold if you raise he folds his bluffs and you win the 900$ pot plus his 400$ if you raise and he reraises you fold, losing you 1200$ if you raise and he calls, your life sucks on the turn if you don't fill up, i can't estimate the financial and psychological loss this might result in i'm far from a nit, i like getting my money in there as much as the next guy, but i don't see how we make money with this hand even if we are ahead/chopping sometimes |
