Default banned for personal attacks?

A certain mod didn't like my Craig Biggio avatar:

I'll admit, it does look very similar to another poster's avatar. Anyway, he asked me to change it because it "mocks" the other poster. In reality, it mocks Craig Biggio.

So I complied. I changed it to this:

Apparently, this is a "personal attack" on the mod, even though I'm pretty sure this mod is not Josiah Bartlet or even Martin Sheen.

I vaguely remember that this mod once upon a time had Martin Sheen in his avatar, but he doesn't anymore; can he really claim dominion over someone else's picture forever?

Could this fall under this mod's "designed to inspire hatred" rule? It's true, I don't like Craig Biggio, and I don't like Martin Sheen, either. But I don't hate them. Well, Biggio, maybe.

FWIW, the incident that prompted me to use the Biggio avatar occured in a different forum, which this mod does not have privledge in.

This is a really ridiculous situation. It just seems like he wants to mod things just so he can mod them.

Interesting situation mayo. I can understand him asking you to lose the Biggio avatar. I'm glad you complied.

The Sheen avatar seems to me more of a grey area. I remember having alot of anti-Dynasty avatars not too long ago around here. People making a statement as to what they thought of Dynasty.

It seems a similar situation. Iron has been notified of this thread and I am sure he will come to defend himself.

I am the "certain mod". Mayostard is the gimmick account for PVN, who I gave a 2 day temp ban for these avatars.

1st off, mods have the right to change "offensive" avatars that appear in their forums regarless of where the poster got the idea from.

2nd, there is a posted rule in Politics about no personal attacks. You might think you're being cute by doing it in an avatar, but a flame in an avatar is still a flame.

3rd, don't give me crap about how you "vaguely remember". The picture the Sheen Photoshop was based off of was the exact picture I was using for my avatar 2 days ago. The Biggio photoshop was based off the same picture that Propertarian uses for his avatar.

This really wasn't close.

FWIW AJ you may not know everything about the situation. PVN (mayo) is an anarchocapitalist whose postions can be summed up as "There's no government like no government." Propertarian is a big government socialist type. Being that they are such polar opposites they tend to debate often. Here's propertarian's avatar-

Now I can't read PVN's mind but I'd bet that a lot of this just has to do with having fun with his opponents avatar, who apparently is someone that PVN dislikes a lot (who hates biggio, I'm a cards fan and even I like him). I would be shocked if propertarian's reaction wasn't laughing about it, and even more shocked if he was appalled about it.

As for the second one, Iron's avy was formerly martin sheen, and really I see even less wrong with it then the biggio one. If Iron took PVN's avatar seriously as some kind of attack then well I'm going to be forced to post this picture:

Do you really find PVN's avatars "offensive" and a "personal attack"? Why? Was Propertarian outraged and sending you PMs day and night trying to get you to remove this abomination of an avatar? Was your feelings hurt when you saw PVN's new avatar?

Im pretty sure this isn't what was meant by offensive avatars.

This is exactly why I opposed the getting rid of Nazi Frist Avatars for similar reasoning.

And it seems that you are going to jump on every opportunity to call his actions into question. Is this because you weren't made a mod? If so, it seems quite petty.
