In tournaments are there any specific rules that you can't make sidebets with other players for tournament chips?
Or sometimes you hear, "I'll show you what i had for one of them pink chips" Is it against the rules? |

No. This is always illegal.
Betgo, it was a stupid question but the title of the thread said what it would be about. If you weren't interested then don't read the thread. There is no need to be a dick |

Anytime you do anything to alter a players stack through other than legitimate means, it affects EVERY player in the tournament. Even seemingly trivial amounts can have a drastic effect on outcomes.
Example: Say you and I have a sidebet for 100 chips, and I win (It's ALWAYS red after 3 blacks). Shortly after that I call tournadonks bluff with my 74 sooted, and his 66 sucks out on me leaving me with 75 chips. Fast forward 3 hours, 1 spot until the money, and I'm chipleader due to my superior skill. Shortstack UTG fish pushes into my BB for 13bb on a clear bluff. I look down to see K9 (offsuit, but beggars can't be choosers), and am pretty much pot committed, so I call. This time my K holds up vs his QQ (What was he thinking?), and we're IN THE MONEY BABY!!!11!. Small 100 chip sidebet. Big consequences for bubbleboy and his starving family. |
