Default Speculation about the long term future

In doing a thorough reading of the actual bill, it seems that they may be trying to create a window for US States to individually legalize poker rooms ( page 222). I have been wondering why Frist has been pushing so hard for this bill. I know hw has presidential aspirations, but it seemed like there was more to it than that. If a State was to legalize a poker room and collect ALL revenue, this could be a HUGE moneymaker for that State. Thoughts?

That language is in there to protect online purchases of state run lottery tickets. Right?

The section of the bill I'm referring to states: Interstate Transactions-- The term "unlawful internet gambling" does not include a bet or wager when the bet or wager is initiated and recived exclusively within a single state.
This is taken from the entire bill http://www.rules.house.gov/109_2nd/t...43_portscr.pdf
I encourage everyone to take the time to read this bill ( pages 213-244 ) . If we are more informed we will be able to have more productive discussions on the future of online poker.

Personally I'm not crazy about the idea of state run poker rooms because the player base will be so much smaller. But it is my opinion that this potential revenue stream is a big part of why Frist pushed so hard for this bill just before his retirement.

how about a powerball type conglomoration of players from various states. lets say california, new york, texas, and florida got together and all had skins that would be a rather large pool i suppose.

Hum if this would be possible, lets say the poker rooms in several states and they join together somehow like you said. Would it be possible for people outside of US to join and play there or not?
