Default JJ river call or raise?

Opponent is 40/9/0.6. Do I need to call or raise the river?

It took some thinking, but I say raise. 40's not loose enough that he's going to call you with any T6 or T4 PF, and I don't think he's passive enough not to raise TT at some point. Also, this is a really, really odd line for a 3, and I doubt that he has that either. This looks like either AT or T7. I suppose that an oddly played 65 is a possibility, but I think you're ahead more often than not.

His hand looks like a 3 that is getting tricky for some reason.

I call expecting to loose frequently. A player this passive does not donk 1p hands that often.

But wouldn't this be one of those boards that will get donked by one pair hands because of the lack of high cards?

Yeah I guess but a lot of times players like this will turn the straight and not know what to do so they just call. Then the river comes and they are like "omg i have to bet, what id HE checks!"

I would be suspicious of the 3. I dont like when passive players bet into me. They usualy have a great hand , a good hand or a bluff. Very rarely they bet mediocre hands.

The question is , do our good hand beat his good hand?

Remember players, a pair is only a pair.

Any comments?

Good variance

I would probably just call. He's either bluffing and you won't get any more money. If he isn't bluffing he has to have a T to get any more money when ahead. Any other hand will call or 3-bet and you will lose. So only if he has a T you miss one bet.

I can't think of many hands that will have a T so IMO the chance of winning one more BB are way to small to make a raise +EV.

Thanks,

Guido

Would definitely raise this. This looks like a river donk with a weak pair that he thinks is "protected" because the board looks scary. Fold to 3 bet is fine...unless you have no clue who he is or if you know he's capable of being crazy.
