Why do other forums such as RGP think it's impossible/extremely difficult/completely undesirable/very foolish to make a living at poker?

99% of the people I know think it is also.

i could make a comfortable living playing poker if:
1. I could play for a reasonable amount of time without getting extremely bored and spacing out
2. I didnt tilt.

since neither is true i just live from month to month and occasionally borrow money until I can get a real job. It's fun and i get to put a lot of hours in.......drinking.

because 90% of players will lose money in the long run due to rake. because of the amazing swings you can have. because of the immense amount of concentration required over long periods of time. because you are risking money every time you play instead of getting a guaranteed check.
