Default Quicktime = evil

whenever I download a new version of iTunes, it installs a new version of Quicktime. When this happens, Quicktime becomes the default player for my mpegs. even after I unclick mpeg in the file types section, [censored]-time continues to play them. I have mpegs selected in the file types section of windows media player, but guess what...quicktime plays them.

any ideas?

Thanks.
