Default Jackpot or not

Heard something about this the other night and wanted to hear some thoughts on this in general.

BBJ qualifier is quads or better beaten, both cards must play.

So the final boards reads something like...

J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

One guy has JJ for JJJJ and the other guy has A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] for the royal.

Is there a jackpot?

If it is a jackpot, does the winning hand qualify for the "winners share"?

Hint: "Both cards must play" means that both cards must play.

The five of spades doesn't play, no jackpot.

Like the others said.. .every room I've played in, both the loser's AND the winner's hole cards have to play.

Also, while this question is obviously being avoided, if in some room this WERE a jackpot, then yes of course the winning hand would be involved in the "winner's share", if there were one. If it weren't that would be one screwy BBJ payoff.

I've seen the rule where kickers counterfeit if on the board (4 queens with board showing QQQAx, hole cards AQ) or "must have pocket pair for quads to be eligible".

Not a jackpot. The 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] doesn't play. Pretty clear I think.

Now for the twist...

A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] does not qualify for a jackpot, but JJ does. JJJJ beaten by royal flush. So one hand qualifies.

Just to speed things along a little.

The floor and cardroom supervisor agrees that there is indeed a jackpot qualifier.

The normal payout structure is 50% to the beaten hand, 25% to the winning hand, 15% to the table, and 10% to all seated players.

Does the winning hand get 25% or something else? If something else which share, the table or the floor share?

Who gets fired by the cardroom management?

There's no jackpot unless both hands qualify.

Fire anyone who thinks this is a jackpot.

If you play your cards right you can pay out a jackpot that isn't and then get to be the director of poker operations for one of the largest rooms on the east coast (for the same company).
