Default Worst player ever. What the [censored]

OK, with the exception of a few (more than I'd like to admit (read quite a few) ) hands where I just plain spewed, I think I'm playing fairly solid. This is a small sample size, but I feel my play is better than it has been in months where I've made my usual amount. Any comments are appreciated.

This months stats are from 2/4 full, my stats overall include quite a bit of 6-max (although traditionally I'm pretty loose)

July (2.2k hands):
VP$IP 17.81
BS ATT 27.61
W$ WSF 37.11
Went to SD 28.89
W$ at SD 45.38
PFR 8.00
AF 2.35
Fld Rvr Bet 47.17

Over 68k hands:
VP$IP 25.43
BS ATT 28.05
W$ WSF 36.96
Went to SD 33.25
W$ at SD 48.04
PFR 11.50
AF 2.05
Fld Rvr Bet 39.98

I've been concentrating on % of showdowns won. I used to hover in the mid 47's, and I want to be over 50. I was running at 55% for the month over my first few sessions, and I've been brutal the last few. A number I haven't paid a ton of attention to is the "Fold to River Bet" stat. That's freaking horrible! I think my 39.98 is bad, but the 47.17 is just deplorable. What should this be?

That's all I've got. Any advise is appreciated. If I don't see better results by this weekend I'm going to drop down a level, and I hate doing that.

2,2K hands is nothing. In the long run your W$ at SD should be something like 55-58%.

This is a dangerous idea.

Statistics should be used as a simple measurement of certain aspects of your game. Trying to adjust your play to manipulate a certain statistic is more than likely going to result in suboptimal decision making.

I actually thought that the won$ at SD should be more around 52-53... if you are much higher, you are folding too many winning hands.

I disagree. While I believe that it should be above 50%, I think it should only be slightly, somewhere in the area of 50-52%. In limit you can afford to be >50% and still be a profitable poker player as it costs you relatively little to call a single bet at the river in comparison to the size of the pot, hence why you don't have to be right over half the time.

I think 55-58% is a good statistic for NL, where those river bets can cost you a larger amount proportionately to the pot.

Most of the true "winning" players I know of are between 50 and 53%, I've been told that 49 is acceptable at the level I'm at, it's just frustrating to have setbacks with it.

After further review, in the 2.2k hands sample from this month, I've missed almost 90% of my draws, and on about 20% of them I wasn't getting correct odds.

On the positive side, I did have a very tasty salami sandwich for lunch. It really hit the spot.

My advice is not to take more than a cursory look at your stats until you have a large enough sample size. Obviously if after a few thousand hands you have stats that are way out of whack you might spot a problem, but if a number is within 10% of ideal over a small sample you can't really determine what that is due to with any accuracy without reviewing hands that affect it.

My general method is to review every single hand I play on a daily basis. If I notice a leak, I'll use PT filters to review as many hands as possible that could demonstrate that leak and figure out a good solution. Until recently I mostly played sngs, but I went over stat numbers at intervals about the equivalent of 20,000 hands and I viewed them with about 40,000 hands total.

Mine is 23. Albeit, mine is going to be pretty low because I find myself taking AK to showdown, A-high frequently.

I think I played 2,200 hands yesterday.

Your just going to frustrate yourself by trying to find use out of this small of a sample.

Wow! I played 8 hours live yesterday - which probably amounts to about 240 hands!

You go Haupt!!!
