Is this really "deep-stacked" poker? I mean, sure...its deep-stacked if you think normal stacks are what you see in the end-game of an old Party SNG...but these are shallower stacks than the shallow online cash game NL with max buy-in (for example: ($400/($2+$4)>5000tc/(60tc+30tc)).

I think the river fold is marginal...and a good reason why I might just call with AKo in mid-position early in a tourney. I think it is very read-dependent...such that very small amounts of info I got from previous hands might swing me in either direction...or the tourney buy-in/level would help me decide. I think the turn check is good...unless you are against a player that will almost never check-raise...so you can bet, control pot size, and check behind river if you don't hit a flush. Since you don't have a read and you think your opponent is reasonable (which is a read, in a sense), you can't beat anything on the river.

But if your opponent is me, I have you beat unless I have exactly AK, in which we chop...and its unlikely I bet that on the river for value with that board.

But, with the horrible play I have seen in all sorts of tourneys on Party since the switch-over (it seems very few people have adjusted properly, at least in the 3-table tournaments) I'd be more apt to call.

How about betting 1000 on the turn and folding if he pushes. This way, if he has Acx, he's probably just going to call because your hand looks really strong and the other hands check push on you or call and lead the river, so it becomes easier to get away from the hand while still getting maximum value for your hand.

Why does everyone like the turn check so much, it seems like it is seeing monsters to me. Your hand is pretty good on the turn, and certainly better than his range in my opinion.

Bump, just cause I really do wanna know why the turn bet is a bad idea. I would be this turn, and I still don't see whats wrong with it. Please educate a brother.

I also think you should bet the turn, but it seems like noone read what I wrote. Preflop, he has AJ / AQ / KQ / 99-JJ imo with AT / A9 / KJ / 66+ being possible but much less likely. Stronger than AQ / JJ he'd just shove preflop. They looove their AK allin pf [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

He calls bet on the flop = flushdraw or an ace. Again should he have gotten here with AK without raising, he'd certainly raise here. AQ might raise, AJ/AT would just call probably. Turn club, checked through (I think you should still bet here, although 3500 pot with 3500 behind makes for awkward bets if you want to leave yourself room to fold). River Q then he thinks either his 2 pair, AJ, AT, is good and bets out. Yesterday I posted I'd expect him to check/call AJ/AT, but atm I think he would actually bet those, although I'm still unsure on that [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]
