And your best chance to win a tournament is putting all your chips in preflop when you know your opponent has AA?...thats probably the dumbest thing ive ever read.

This should probably be in a strategy forum, but it fits the topic.

Lets say this is right on the bubble. If Hank loses he receives $0, if he folds, its likely some other person will go out and he'll be finish in the money. It would seem to me that at this point 1 chip (well, realistically some small number of chips to survive antes/blinds for an orbit or two) is worth a hell of a lot more money than the rest of his chips. So while he might be getting the odds based on tournament chips, he's not getting the odds when considering real money and so he should fold.

Now back off one step to the bubble bubble, should he still fold? At what point do we revert to purely chip EV? If we never do, then just getting your pot odds is always a fold. How do you determine that "extra odds" you need to make calls in tournaments?

Edit: Sorry for posting this, since its mostly been covered, I only saw the first 50 posts. I missed the second page of posts.

did you even read the thread or did you just show up three days late to make a post which completely outlines your level of ignorance and inability to comprehend what you read?
"DURRR SO WHAT YOUR SAYING IS IF YOUR OPPONENT SHOWS AA AND YOU HAVE KK YOU MUST PUT YOUR LIFE ON THE LINE AND ALL YOUR WORLDLY POSSESSIONS? WOW YOU ARE AN IDIOT"
The retards who can't [censored] read or comprehend what's going on here are starting to piss me off.

nath, shouldn't we factor in our expectation vs. the field, dictating that in Azaria's instance this is an automatic call because he has a negative expecation vs the field?

To simplify, let's assume heads-up play and we're a very good player facing a poor player where the good player has a 60% likelihood of winning each hand. Why in a +ev situation with qq vs ak would we call knowing that every other hand we have far superior expectation of winning?

He had correct odds to call even if he knew for sure that his opponent had aces, so it was an awful fold.

[/ QUOTE ]

so, wasnt it a neutral fold?

if he was getting 4:1 and he was a 4:1 dog, isnt calling neutral EV?
