Empiremaker is also one of my favorite posters, except for different reasons.

Gus,
I was just poking fun because of how your post comes across at first glance, hence the smilies. I have no real reason to nor do I disbelieve you |

you can tighten up ranges when facing a follow through bet after a flop c/r, turn bet and turn bet, river bet vs some players. ie: some will give up and not fire the 2nd barrel which gives more credence to their holding
however i would never apply that here because i have never seen anyone not push the flop after this preflop action |

I have seen people check the flop many times in this situation whether it be aces or a failed 3 bet preflop bluff. |

By the way, I will smooth call the 500 with aces quite often too and let the bettor hang himself.

Gus, if you really had QQ, it seems like a bit of an overplay - unless you were actually bluffing with your all-in on the flop. In any case, if you are telling the truth, you got me off the best hand, so it was either well played by you or poorly played by me (or both).

sam,
this is what happens when you think on level 4 and your opponent is still on level 1 |

Guys, I think MDMA is trying to point out a very important concept that a number of posters seem to be missing. The concept of playing a hand a certain way based on a read WITHOUT adjusting your read as you get more information is really weak. One may have a read on your opponent having a hand (or more relevantly a range of hands) at one point in the hand, but after obtaining more information (for instance, action after the flop), that read can change - or more relevantly, the range can narrow.
In this hand, I may or may not have made a mistake, but the concept of just making my decision of whether or not I have the best hand preflop and then reacting to the flop accordingly is extremely simple minded. |
