Not to say you don't lead a "normal" life, but I just feel like any poker player tries to rationalize taking money as "oh its only for entertainment for them" I just think this line is pretty lazy mentally, I just don't really agree with it. It may be entertainment for a few people,but the vast majority of the people we win money off of are severely addicted imo. Of course we all try to rationalize it, but that doesn't change it

your looking for reasons to feel bad about it, seriosly. What we do is no different than a bartender serving drinks. Obviosly your gonna serve some alcoholics, some people are gonna drive drunk. But the vast magority are gonna be responsible people having fun, in control of their behavior.

going into a poker room and seeing a room full of addicts is no different than walking into a bar and seeing a room full of alcoholics. Both perceptions are wrong, and both say more about whats going on in your mind than about whats going on in the room.

Well first let me complete the analogy.

Money:Addicted gambler is to Drugsrug Addict

How do we cure the drug addict from the drugs? common sense dictates to take the drugs away from the addict. if we simply take the drugs from the addict, further analysis observes that there are withdrawl symptoms and lots of negative side effects. But sometimes this is the road required to rid drugs of the addict.

The same can be applied to money:gambling addict.

So playing poker is kind of like being a doctor.

At what point can we, as playing the "RagMan" of the situation, fail to resist against the drug that is money?

Can they gamble with things other than money? This includes things that be quantified into dollars.

To answer my own question, yes they can (Life, to me the only thing that cannot be quantified into money.)

At this point they need couseling, assuming they are able to afford the necessary counseling both monetarily and mentally.
