the gap between the NYY and boston keeps closing.

O Rly?

What positions does Boston have an advantage at besides LF and C? Damon>Crisp, Sheffield>>Nixon, A-Rod>>Mueller, Jeter>whoever the SS is, Cano>whoever the 2B is, Giambi>Choi.

Only Varitek and Manny are better out of the 8 position players.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think the implication is that Boston got better with this aquisition, therefore the gap is closing.

I would still be inclined to pick Toronto to finish ahead of Boston. And before anyone asks, I'm not putting money on it.

if you consider the starting pitching for Boston slightly better, and the bullpen for the Yankees slightly better, and the offense for the Yankees better with the acquisition of Damon, what is there to debate?

By the way, "above average" is bad, too. Average != 0 value. The baselien is somewhere below that.

Cano < Loretta,
Crisp = Damon

and how could you do a comparison without including David Ortiz?

My bad Dougie, I totally forgot about him.

You win DH easily but the Yankees are still better at 6 of the 9 positions. Crisp =/= Damon and Loretta =/= Cano.
