Good link handicapping the race from Congressional Quarterly (written by Craig Crawford); Crawford breaks down each of the potential candidates, detailing each's profile, resources ($$$), potential strengths, and potential weaknesses:
http://www.cqpolitics.com/2006/11/fr..._race_for.html Excellent reading for anyone who found this thread interesting. |

Duncan Hill a representitive for San Diego is going to run for pres. I think he has as much chance of becoming president as I do sleeping with Jennifer Aniston

Wow. I don't see one candidate that I would be excited about if I was either type of conservative (financial or evangelical). Maybe McCain, but there's the "traitor" angle on him. And maybe Frist, if they could get over the stem cell issue that the article mentioned.
They seem to downplay Frist, but I don't really get their explanation. I think lots of evangelicals see stem cell research as a tough decision, and they might forgive his stance on that one thing since he's a doctor, as long as he's fundamentally pro-life, |

DV,
Thanks for that link. I like their methodology of evaluation, but don't think that they particularly have a good set from each party to evaluate. No representative from the house unless an extremely well know leader there is ever going to have much of a shot. And they leave out some that have been mentioned, like Evan Bayh for the dems and Gov. Bill Owens for the repubs, although those ommissions may be based on those politicians asserting they aren't actually interested despite their supporters' wishes. Too bad the Terminator can't meet the constitutional standards for elegibility . |

Lol. The one candidate that would make the world respect us even less than they do now.

And they leave out some that have been mentioned, like Evan Bayh [/ QUOTE ] Bluff, Bayh is there. He's the first Democrat listed: "Hobby Horse: Stressing fiscal responsibility, lower taxes, job creation and lean government, this is one Democrat who hopes to dodge the liberal label so often pinned on his party brethren in national campaigns. His Capitol Hill voting record shows that, until recently, he sided with President Bush on key issues more often than not. Hobble Horse: Coming across as a mild- mannered Midwestern deacon is not what presidential campaign audiences expect — and in Washington, he is viewed as an intellectual lightweight. To compensate, Bayh asks Democrats, “Do we want to vent, or do we want to govern?” He might find that primary voters prefer venting." |

Its no big deal!!! As far as I know there isnt a single embryonic stem cell project that has been successful or even shown any promise. Every stem cell therapy that has worked has been adult stem cells from the patient himself. Embryonic stem cells are the biggest politico-science red herring ever, and the balance in Washington may have changed because of it. Ridiculous. |

My picks are Hillary and McCain. [/ QUOTE ]You will, most probably, see nothing serious about Hillary in the media from now until she gets the nomination. From that moment onwards, she will be torn apart by the GOP. I cannot believe that the Democrats are so keen to self-destruct once again and to field an unelectable candidate, but lots of things happen which I find unbelievable. Mickey Brausch |
