I did salvia the "traditional" way, where you take a bunch of the leaves and chew and suck on them. Not much happened. After 15 minutes or so, I felt a little bit out of it, kind of spacey, like when you first wake up in the morning. I walked around a little bit and felt weak in the knees. Back to normal in 30-60 minutes.

Another thing no one has mentioned is that you have to hold the hit of salvia in your lungs for at least 30 seconds. This is why a lot of people don't break through and think salvia doesn't do anything. I can't post the trip report I wrote because the Something Awful Archives are closed for maintenance

I have done salvia on several occasions. The first few times I did the leafy 5x kind. The last few times I've done the 20x and it can get trippy. Last time I was just sitting down with the sensation of being split right in half and pulled in opposite directions... yet at the same time, I felt like I everything in my surroundings was an extension of myself almost an extension of my physical body. It got to a point, where it was so intense I could not really see anything so I just closed my eyes and enjoyed it.
The weird thing about salvia for me is how quickly it can take you to that kind of place. I mean I've had intense trips with mushrooms and acid and such, but you have time to mentally pace yourself, the onset is gradual. But with the Salvia, it can get you there in a couple minutes. I recommend it to those who like different kinds of psychedelics, although I still don't quite consider salvia a psychedelic. |

I'm sure you'll research it, but I had thought morning glory was fatal. At any rate, be careful.

Why wouldn't you consider it a psychedelic?

man I want to try this badly but all my buds are so straight edge they would never babysit me, and my gf would freak. these trip reports are intriguing the hell out of me at the same time they are convincing me it would be crazy to do by myself.

I suppose it is psychedelic. It is just quite different than anything else. I think that people who have had experience with other psychedelics should go into trying salvia for the first time not comparing it to other substances and just to allow the salvia experience be what it is.

one of the coolest "highs" i have ever experienced was a head rush after my most successful yoga session with an inverted pose. felt so much better than any induced rush.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet but if you wanna try salvia make sure it's STANDARDISED! 5x or 10x or 20x if you're hardcore but I repeat STANDARDISED. Anyone who has tried it and didn't feel the effects is because it wasn't standardised extract. Also please make sure you read about it on Erowid.com or something so you know what you're getting yourself into. This ain't no party drug.
EDIT: Make sure you have a sober sitter who will make sure you don't harm yourself. This is really important. You won't have much control over what happens to you mainly because of few seconds after you've taken a hit you won't even remember that you've just taken a hit. Your perception at that point will become your reality (it's not like shrooms where you are sort of aware that your perception is distorted because you're shrooming). And if that reality includes an ability to fly, you'll probably jump out of the window. Play safe. |

I'm curious, but I don't really do drugs any more. I never really did much, but I've just kind of phased it out of my life naturally. I guess I'm not curious enough to go back. But I do like the trip reports.
