[ QUOTE ] Does anyone know of a basic opening ranges guideline for NLHE? [/ QUOTE ] Open anything playable [/ QUOTE ] This advice might sound kinda dumb on the surface but it rings pretty true. Also I used to play alot of limit but have been playing NL with alot of sucess for a while now. I think you are all overestimating the difficulty that you will face swapping over some of ur play from limit to NL. Face it limit players, play wayyyy better postflop than 95% of guys playing NL. And at midstakes that number is much higher. If you decide to make the crossover GET A COACH, this factor alone will make the crossover 100x easier. Also lol at there being no money to be made online, this is hilarious. True alot of guys with very mediocore skills are no longer making 20k a month but the better players are still crushing and will continue to do so for some time. Basically get a coach and refine ur game and ull still be able to make some pretty huge $$$$. |

Thing is that most limit players have a better fundamental understanding of poker on average (+ they are better hand readers), because that`s what it takes to be a succesful limit player. So it`s not hard to switch for limit guys. It should be much harder the other way round.

I fear things will even up once some good NL cash game books get published [/ QUOTE ] I kind of doubt it, online resources such as training sites and cash game coaching improves players at a much faster rate. I actually think a big selling NL book may make the games better at low and midstakes just because its bound to get alot more ppl to redeposit and take another crack at online. Though in order to do achieve these kind of results it would have to sell like HOH. |

My experience is that some of the most lucrative people to play against are the ones who buy the books and misinterpret key parts. So there is a part of me that doesn't mind the books (as I hopefully can gain more from them than my opponents).

That's true but it's only relatively recently that seriously good and applicable books have been published (ed miller and stox)

Plus, all the chapters on not going on tilt won't stop people from going on tilt.

[ QUOTE ] I've said this nine times this week [/ QUOTE ] I wish you would stop saying it because eventually people are going to listen. [/ QUOTE ] You actually think they'll be able to jump right in and play these games? There is a learning curve involved that'll make the other games good! |
