El D,

This forum has already been split once, and now you are suggesting moving 5/10 to the midstakes forum. I don't totally diagree with that, but I do question how the mods can moderate for "boring/basic" threads. There are always going to be n00b to a certain level posters, who granted probably are incredibly lucky or rich to make it to the 5/10 or 10/20 level without undertanding basic concepts better. So if you want to moderate for that, then you need to label the mid-stakes forum "midstakes/bad player at higher stakes NL".

I will also say, that a lot of players new to this forum, would do well to study the archives before posting hand examples and seeking advice. But I don't see a way to make them do that.

Also, I am sure we would all welcome your starting a few threads a week divulging some "advanced secrets" in order to up the quality of this forum.

IIRC, El D, Matt Flynn, GoG, and maybe some others have already said they hold back some when posting. Interesting to note

edit: to clarify, I'm agreeing with you Bluffthis

That was my point HotPants. Thus there would be nothing left to discuss. Oh Wait! Maybe they want to learn new such advanced secrets themselves without sharing same, but are tired of having to search through all these boring threads to find same! Of course it would be easier for El D to just ask Ray Zee for that.

BT,

FWIW, I'm not here looking for any advanced secrets nor do I expect to find any.

El D, I don't think otherwise and was being facetious to a degree to make a point. But perhaps the problem is that dividing the forums by stakes isn't really the best way, but that dividing them into beginner/intermediate/advanced is, because the stakes one plays at doesn't necessarily indicate same. Even lower stakes players who are very good must adapt their play to situations with other such players, which is I agree, what most threads here should be about.

The thing that to me separates advanced or expert play from that which is not, is not only knowing the basic or "advanced" principles, but using that as part of a thought process to think about the right things in the right order for every situation, and know which principles are the most important for that situation on every street. Also a lot of it is being a very good hand reader, and knowing how such hands can either typically or atypically (through bad play usually but sometimes very good play) be played by others.

That type of analysis is what I find lacking a majority of threads here by a majority of posters, who might understand all the basic or even advanced principles, but just can't recognize which are most important for a given situation. If every poster here were required to give a reply based on a standard "situational analysis" format, similar to a law school brief or scientific analysis (or HOH's SHAL), then there would certainly be fewer posts, and more posters could figure things out for themselves if they knew all the priciples involved.

Maybe people are taking this internet forum a little too seriously.

Why don't all of you highly advanced players just have a board where only you are allowed to post? Maybe you could have a monniker by your name- instead of "addict" or "carpal tunnel" maybe "official highly advanced player". That way, when people wanted to read highly advanced strategy like raising because you have a fullhouse, they would know to go to the special forum.

I look forward to these crucial changes.

All smart-a**ness aside, maybe it is a good idea to split them into full ring and 6 max.
