Somewhere in the first 50 and 60 pages I strongly wanted to quit. Lots of people have told me they felt the same way; some quit and some didn't. Really loved the book after that though. It picked up and really got good.

That Indian stuff struck me as baloney. The connections were tenuous at the VERY, very best, and then spun out with ridiculous elaboration. I positively laughed at the "treaty" (WTF?) that the Chef proposed to the kid. Sweet jebus, that was asinine.
