In a week, it'll be 5 years doing product development in the cosmetics industry. I do have a good time playing around and making different kinds of hair color. Marketing can usually kiss my ass, but sometimes they're okay.
Yes, I'm straight. |

My undergrad degree was in Poly Sci and my MSc was in European poltics so logically im an assistant systems manager for the PAC of large professional association in DC. There is going to be a new opening that im applying for so hopefully my new job title will be program manager of grassroots marketing. If I get the job it should be a nice step up for me. Wish me luck...

I've been writing software, always in C/C++, for like ~13 years now, 7 years in the games industry. The pay is decent I guess, like 70s (albeit in California/Hawaii).
However, I'm still doing the same 'level' of work I was doing 10 years ago and my career has gone nowhere. Junior-ish stuff, like user interfaces, application-level code, etc. I'm generic programmer cog: jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none -- A little bit of network here, graphics there, AI here, database there, with no hardcore delving into any particular subfield, and no real proficiency with any technology. This is likely more my fault than my profession's, however. I am likely just too lazy, as even in school I did just enough to get by on natural genius, rather than put in serious effort to get ahead or improve myself. Like, I'll buy a book on 3D rendering techniques, or AI programming, but then never get around to reading it. If I could go back in time, I think I would try to be a derivitives trader or something of that nature. |
