Am I the only one that feels that Beltran, when healthy, could be the Mets best leadoff batter? I understand about how much he is being paid and he is supposed to be the three hitter, but with as much power as we have I think him in the leadoff spot would be best for the team.

You certainly aren't the only one that thinks that. Beltran would probably be a fine leadoff hitter.

BP did a study in BBTN which said that lineups dont matter much UNLESS you do something moronic. batting reyes in the one hole constitutes moronic. loduca #2 seems a little odd also, but whatever at least they dont have wright batting 7. putting the 06 version of bonds on when 1st base is occupied is retarded. |

Bonds' BA is up to .231, and his SLG .462. The "06" Bonds is probably not that far off from the "05" Bonds...

It was great when Bonds was 2-for-12 with 8 walks and a .500 OBP

[ QUOTE ]
It was great when Bonds was 2-for-12 with 8 walks and a .500 OBP [/ QUOTE ] There was a period of time last year when Brian Giles reached base safely for 3 weeks straight and had an OBP of something like .850. The best lines are 0-1, 3 BB which I keep seeing Brian Giles and Jason Bay put up. The difference is that Jason Bay is a lot better and faster baserunner (nearly stole at a 100% success rate last year with 20+ steals, only caught once). Jason Bay is the new Brian Giles - hopefully Bay isn't caught playing on a [censored] team for the rest of his life. To this day I mourn the loss of Brian Giles from the Indians, but there was absolutely nowhere to play the kid. |

OT - speaking of Jason Bay, whats up with Canadians getting a late start on baseball...? Gagne, Bay, Matt Stairs, all starting peaking in their late 20's.

It's a shorter season up north. See also: Larry Walker.
