Willie Randolph is terrible

I'm not as knowledgeable about baseball as many posters on this board, but TWICE intentionally walking Bonds WITH A MAN ON FIRST to face Moises Alou has to be among the most terrible decisions you could make as a manager, right?

Dear Willie,

It's 2006, not 2001.

Sincerely,
A Concerned Mets fan.

The first intentional walk wasn't that horrible because Glavine had already gone 3-0 on Bonds. You don't want to give Bonds a chance to swing at one of Glavine's meaty fastballs.

With a man on 1st? That is really atrocious.

ah, thank you, this is what happens when you miss the game and catch up by reading the play by play/box score.

In Willie's defense, he has to trot out Endy Chavez in CF while Beltran is out. Oh yeah...Milledge is hitting .404/.524/.625 at AAA...

Let's not talk about it. It's getting sincerely painful to watch.

Why did I think this thread was about Wilma Rudolph?

Yeah, there's no reason to try to get back in the count against Bonds by throwing him 3 fastballs. Yeesh.

An argument could be made that the problem with bringing Milledge up right now is that there is potential to "set him back a bit".

I dunno though. That kid can play, he proved it in Spring Training and he continues to prove it in Norfolk. If Beltran lands on the DL with his vagina injurty the Mets should really consider giving this kid some playing time in Queens.

A nice little tidbit on Lastings:
I played against him in high school, he played for our rivals.
He got suspended the last year for having a little too much fun with an 8th grader

He was amazing though. Led the county in Homers, Steals, everything.
