I'm saying passing up +EV situations is like passing up free money.

You need a better reason than, "You don't have to"

Why would I fold if it is +EV?

[/ QUOTE ]

My own philosophy on poker is, eventhough it is +EV, it doesn't mean you have to make the play.

My philosophy on life is, if you see a $100 bill sitting on the sidewalk, you don't have to take it.

What if you know your back is gonna crack (really) bad if you bend over twice, and you see a $500 bill down the street?

Playing this hand and potentially busting on the bubble is throwing money away.

Good analysis, but your range for UTG is absolutely enormous. I know a lot of 2+2ers aren't pushing with that wide a range.

Thats a valid point, but also, I'm practically garunteed third by a fold here.

no, you're *neither* gauranteed to make the money *nor* gauranteed to take 3rd if you do make the money.

From an earlier post or yours in this thread
[ QUOTE ]
Even though it may be +EV to call, I think there are too many ways for you to lose this hand.

[/ QUOTE ]
If its +EV to call (and I am pretty sure its about as close to 0.0 EV as possible) then you are throwing money away by not making this call. So you either believe one of the other of your statements but it would be very tough to maintain both.

One could be seeking to dampen variance which, while a fine strategy long term for tilt/psychological reasons will leave some cash on the table.

I would fold this hand,
your at best 60/40 against AK-AJs/ and 66+

Most of the time you'll get in the money here and can go from there, I'll be interested in what the more seasoned players have to say.

Hey, dont try pretending like you dont understand the analogue.

At times it is correct to pass up on +$EV (of cource though never the option that renders the most $EV, but when ICM "tells us" something is the most +$EV it doesnt always tell the whole truth since it doesnt have any idea how a move is going to affect the flow of the game).

But you know this, and I'm just being a nit.
