[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] I am a Pro V1x guy but if you are looking for a good cheap ball try the Top Flight D2 "feel" ball. People are really liking this thing for twelve bucks a dozen. [/ QUOTE ] There was a golf ball thread in OOT a few months back and I was writing about how fast these had sold out at my shop. I didn't have one person say anything or ask any questions so I guess the word isn't out about them yet. Maybe top flite isn't promoting them. [/ QUOTE ] I've seen you're a good player and like the ProV1. Think these D2's are worth a shot for a guy like me? I play maybe 2x/month during the season and on a good day shoot mid 80's and a bad day shoot mid 90's. I like a ball with a little softer feel. High spin probably isn't what I'm looking for. Just don't like the "rock" feel of say low end TopFlites. D2 worth a shot? Thanks! |

[ QUOTE ] The Pro V1 and Pro V1x are so much better than the other balls out there. It's very impressive how much of a lead Titleist has taken in that field. Despite what some people say, you really don't have to be that good to see a very noticeable difference. Whether it's worth paying whatever they sell for is, of course, another issue. [/ QUOTE ] IMO. The Callway Black is also a good ball. [/ QUOTE ] I've used pretty much all of the "other" Pro V's and I haven't felt like any were as good. This is not to say they're not good balls or that you shouldn't use them, just that I think there's a clear divide. of course, this is all personal opinion and I'm sure many disagree with me. |

I'm a ProV1x guy (2nd choice NXT).
I've played something that says "Titleist" for so long that it bothers me a little to see anything else. It would certainly bother me to see something that says "Top-Flite." But I've heard good things about a Bridgestone ball -- and I've started to see a few around the course. Anyone got an opinion on those? |

It doesn't easily scuff and spins like the proV1x Haven't used the B330s, so I can't comment on that |

I told this story in the OOT thread, but what the heck. When I was working at the sporting goods department at K-Mart in the mid nineties I used to love using the Maxfli MD 90s. They then changed to the tugsten cores and I couldn't control them like the old ones. So I took the last 20 boxes that we had in stock. I still have four boxes sitting in my closet.
I can put those balls anywhere I want. They go about 20 yards shorter than a new ball with my driver. However with aproach shots I can stop them easier than I can new balls. Every year I think about buying some new balls. Every year I cheap out. |

I vary between a prov1 and a callaway hx tour depending on conditions. The cally is my only choice in the wind.

I also play mostly pro vs or the nxt tour. The nxt tour is a very good ball and when they are $25 or so they are a really good ball. I did play some of the bridgestones last year, until the pro shop at my club ran out. I think you would have to be an extremely good player to really notice much difference. Maybe one or the other you like more, but I doubt any difference would hurt or help your game probably. Good ball IMO, although I too tend to buy titleists.
