Cradle of Filth - Sleepless
Improved in so many ways. Cradle's screeching lyrics and clean rhythmic instrumentation bring the song to a new level. |

Smooth Criminal - Alien Ant Farm Don't really like MJ's version much at all. Mostly, the little kid dancing in their video puts it over the top.
Faith - Limp Bizkit. I like this much better than the George Michael version. I also like the GnR version of Knockin' on Heavens Door. |

Tori Amos - Raining Blood (Slayer) [/ QUOTE ] Oh this just reminded me. Have people heard the Tori album "Upside Down"? (Yes, I'm very gay.) On Disk 2, it has many cover songs including: Angie (Rolling Stones) Smells Like Teen Spirit (Nirvana) Thank You (Led Zeppelin) They are all really good and interesting although I would certainly not say better than the originals. |

Johnny Was by Stiff Little Fingers (forget who wrote it) [/ QUOTE ] I have to respectfully yet completely disagree with this choice. The original version by Bob Marley is probably in my top ten of all time. |

I've got a speed metal version of "These Boots are Made for Walking" on MP3. I've also got Weezer playing the theme from "The Dukes of Hazard". Both of those are great.
Jewel has a very good cover of "Wild Horses". Lisa Bonet sang an excellent version of Peter Frampton's "Baby, I Love Your Way" in the movie High Fidelity. "Hurt" by Johhny Cash may be one of the best covers of all time. Al Green and Lyle Lovett did a kickass version of "Ain't It Funny How Time Slips Away". |

If you're into Bluegrass covers of classic songs, definitely check out Hayseed Dixie. They started out as an AC/DC cover band(Hayseed Dixie = AC/DC - get it?) but they've covered lots of classic rock tunes. Highway to Hell cover |
