I don't think it matters. You'll look like a dork either way. The days of shades being cool at the table have passed. Basically it was July and August of '03...

Your eyes don't give away as much as your hands, mouth, voice and betting patterns. And also any deviation from how you do things such as which hand you usually bet with, but change hands when you bluff. Things like that.

If you want to wear shades, keep them on all the time. If you start taking them on and off, you might give away a tell.

Also, I notice some dorks wear shades that I CAN SEE THEIR EYES THRU because they aren't tinted dark enough

You also have to becareful that they aren't too dark. You'd give away tells if you have to keep standing up and moving your face closer to see the flop with two [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] and one [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] because you aren't sure if you have a flush draw or a backdoor flush draw

Some pros wear them, but mostly it's newbies or experienced players who didn't get the memo...

Good stuff. At the level I'm playing (mid-level nl holdem) I think the glasses look kind of foolish and make a table less talkative, reducing action and EV. I'm for a fun talkative table where if people have a good time whether they lose or win money.

For tournaments it makes a little more sense.

IF I'm wearing shades, then they're on the whole time.

I'm old school. I prefer a paper bag with eye holes cut-out. I put that on every time anyone irritating tries to talk to me.

Never take 'em off, baby. Rocks and rings 1.4 yo.

But seriously -- just don't wear them. Learn how to conceal your tells without shades and you'll be a better player.

TMTTR did. The OP might be trolling, but there may also be other reading this who think shades are cool and serve a purpose, so we post for them...
