I'll be watching with great interest to see how things turn out. I trust polling less this election vs most elections. Turn out will be key. With the insane level of attack ads this election its clear many will stoop to any level to win, I have to wonder how much shady stuff will occur.
I'll be the most disappointed if Harold Ford doesn't win. He seems like the kind of principled individual we need in Washington. |

[ QUOTE ]
On behalf of Politics Forum Dems, I'm trying not to count those chickens, but I'm certainly making sure I know where the roost is at. I'll still feel bummed if we don't take the Senate, but there will definately be a gloating thread if we take the House. [/ QUOTE ] To justify a gloating thread the Dems would need to nearly sweep the closely contested House seats. Elections in the 6th year of an administration are so stacked against the sitting Presidents party, that anything less than that is a loss for the Dems. |

The interviews Ive seen him give he's just another bot reciting the party talking points. and given the treatment that the Dems give to anyone straying, especially minorities, he is wise to do so. |

That's really dumb. By that logic if 40 seats are closely contested and dems win 35, it's more gloatworthy than if 60 are closely contested and they win 45. It's clearly better to win 45. Elections in the 6th year of an administration are so stacked against the sitting Presidents party, that anything less than that is a loss for the Dems. And how can picking up the majority in the House be a loss for Dems? Again: really, really dumb. All that matters in the House is being the majority party. The minority sucks hind teat, whether they have 215 seats or 200. Stop moving the goalposts. An actual failure to win the majority will be a catastrophic loss, but a majority will be a big win. |

The only Dem I've ever seen attacked for straying from a party line is Lieberman, and that's cause he sided with the president against legitimate criticism of the war. |

Apparently, you're interested in the Elections Hall of Fame debate. Most of us are interested in the actual governance of the country. Winning the House will be a huge deal. As for the senate, I'm again going to call you very very dumb. The senate is currently split 55R-45D, but the Democrats actually have more seats up for reelection this year than the republicans do - 18 to 15. The fact that the Dems have put more than half of those R seats in play is huge. I'd suggest not relying on Ann Coulter for your historical perspective. |
