The games in FL are limited to 1-2 or 2-2, never seen a cap on pots...I heard at one time in the past, there was a cap, but not since I've been playing.

Yeah, $2 max bet and no cap AFAIK. Some of the structures they came up with are downright retarded - I was at the PB kennel club and they spread $2-2 limit holdem w/$2 ante, so after the whole table limps in (standard) anyone gets 20:1 to call a bet on the flop. Wonderful game.

Anyone been on the Palm Beach Princess lately?

Until three or four years ago, the only game you could play in Florida was .25/.50 with a $10 cap on the pot. But then the state decided to allow what they called "high stakes poker" -- up to $2 bets with no cap on the pot.

In fact GSN is filming High Stakes Poker season 4 at the Hard Rock Tampa.

"And Negreanu's not messing around -- he bypasses his chips and throws out four rolls of pennies."

"Yes Gabe that pot now has dozens of dollars in cold hard cash."

Anyone think this game would be beatable? How would I go about it... I really dont see being able to fold ever.

Also yea I live in florida
The hard rock in florida has $1/$2 limit and $2/$4 limit holdem I believe
games are boring (compared to vegas)
drinks are not free
wait can be insane if you try to go on a friday night

The games are prob decent friday and saturday night but I would get there early to get a seat before 5am...

$2/$2 hold'em. State law. Wait's not bad in Tampa on Friday nights, Saturday nights can be upwards of 2 hours. Also, attendance gets softer in November and December. Tampa spreads that "action hold'em" as well.

The Hard Rock is many things - it is NOT boring. I've seen three bets in Vegas only a handful of times - at the Hard Rock, it happens every other hand. Every hand gets a showdown. Every. Single. Hand.

Anyone been on the Casino Cruz boat out of Treasure Island? If so, rake, games spread, smoking/non-smoking?

[/ QUOTE ]

Good question. I would like to know also. The link is below. The ship leaves from the Tampa/Clearwater area.

I've only ever played the MTTs - atrocious play, but not quite as bad as the cash games. It's been said that super-tight play in the SNGs will get you to the money often.
