Florida??

I am travelling to Orlando for business in December. I see that there is a casino in Tampa, as well as Tampa Downs which has a card room. Seems like they are 70 miles away.

Anyone know of another option, besides just playing online in the hotel?

Thanks in advance,

Todd

You'll pass the Hard Rock before you get to any of the dog tracks in Tampa. There's no reason to.

From what I hear they have a cap on how big the pot can get; something like $20. I'm not sure how accurate that is though

Tampa Downs doesn't open till late December, so Derby Lane in St Pete or Hard Rock are the only options.

Derby has tourneys but expect 30% vig and an insanely fast structure.

Hard Rock isn't much better but the vig is a little less and the structure, especially the higher you go, a little better.

I thought they had a limit on how big the pot can get in limit games, or maybe it was how big of a game they could spread? Do they have limit games?

Take the 45 min drive to Port Canaveral and go on the Suncruz Casino boat. It leaves at 7 p.m. goes 3 miles off shore and comes back around 12:30ish. The play is some of the worst you've ever seen. Hopefully you don't get sea sick though. They spread limit 3/6, 4/8, 5/10, 10/20 and 10/20 round and round and 2/5NL 300 max and 5/10NL 600 max.

Anyone been on the Casino Cruz boat out of Treasure Island? If so, rake, games spread, smoking/non-smoking?

The games in FL are limited to 1-2 or 2-2, never seen a cap on pots...I heard at one time in the past, there was a cap, but not since I've been playing.
