Depends what your deffinition of standard rake is. At local casinos near me the standard rake for a $1-2 NL game is $6 per half hour, plus they take out $1 per pot for the bad beat jackpot. This game is not beatable. Even a winrate of 8PTBB/100 is not enough to break even after the dealer tips.

Now online games with lower rake, add in Rakeback and ocasional bonuses and yes it is very beatable. Add in multiple tables and you can make enough to live off of easy at the $200NL level.

So far at the new rakefee site, wsex, i'm up 300 bucks and have saved 2090 dollars in rake fees. And i play at almost a semi pro level. So my conclusion that people are wasting their money if u have to pay rake to play medium stakes.

I think people should wake up and smell the coffee.. support wsex and have a chance at really winning for a change.

Do u think that medium stakes is even marginally beatable long term with a standard rake?

today, i had a really bad session. i made a really donk call of an obvious overbet. it was one of my worst sessions (both mistake-wise and money-wise) since like a month ago. i was also pretty card dead. 90 minutes of 6 tabling, and only AA once, KK and QQ zero times.

i still won $400. holla.

Those point "thingys" the poker sites give you to buy turtlenecks and stuff totally make up for the lost $$$ in rake. And you don't really "see" the rake your losing, so IMO I don't even consider it lost money.

It is a figment of everyone's imagination.

The key word in the second senetence appears to be almost.

"ALMOST a semi pro level."

The connotation of almost varies from individual to individual, I'd assume.

A lot of people are being sarcastic, but the regular winning players at 200NL/400NL (4PTBB-10PTBB) are paying 30%-50% of their winnings to the rake.

Anybody with a large PT can double check for themselves. A player winning 4PTBB is paying roughly 1.7-2PTBB on rake. A player winning 9PTBB is paying somewhere around 3PTBB on rake.

Throw in just a few bad beats more than usual in a month, and it really cuts down on your winrate.

I love the soft games, but it's a bite in the azz when up to 50% of your winnings are going to rake.

Even if you have RB, you are still looking at 25%-40% total rake.

And no, this is not an endorsement for WPEX. They have no NL6max, so as far as I'm concerned, they blow...
