[ QUOTE ] river is spew. [/ QUOTE ] Comments like these are why I posted. I wasn't sure if my hopeless bluff would work often enough here to be EV neutral or have a slightly +EV. If you put the hand in a vacuum, and only look at the river, is it still spew? Probably, but that's my question. [/ QUOTE ] the problem with a bluff here is that I don't think you fold out a better hand. I think he calls the river with any piece. Therefore, the only hands that fold are worse hands - b/c you beat any missed draw, so unless you are folding exactly QJ then you are getting nothing. |

[ QUOTE ]
i'm sure most of you will hate what i'm going to say, but, i really think it's true. against typical opposition, it's really not worth raising in co with q,j. before you conclude i'm surely nuts, think about it a bit. using the example given, after the flop raise is called, hero is so often toast. even connecting with the flop is no guarantee of winning with q,j. let it go. i've said it before and i'll say it for a while. the limited ability of small stakes players to fold (anything) reduces the value of steal attempts or semi-steal attempts... [/ QUOTE ] "Thinks about it".... nahhh, your nuts. There is a theme in most of your posts that I usually notice (for the most part, not all of the time): A.) You are too weak-rock tight preflop/postflop. B.) You tie in +EV PF positional raises with select posted flops. Ex. "You shouldnt open raise KJo in the Hijack because when this flop comes all hearts and you don't have a heart, you are probably behind...". Just my 2 cents, and something you should try and work on. I would have just checked through the flop, Grease. You get a free crack at your gutshot and may also pick up the pot if a [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] falls on the river.
BTW, I always try to be crazy and make up lost ground when I misclick, too. I think you have to sometimes... Haupt_234 |

I can't check through the flop: he bet into me.
I was going to just fold and be weak-tight, is that correct? |

Let me understand this. Raising qj in CO is a misclick. This is clearly a raising hand in an uunopened pot in CO. All things considered you need to fold after he donks the flop. Once you raised though I think you need to bet it all the way.
But seriously, you fold qj? Now THAT is weak tight. |

Raising QJo in cutoff is not a pure 'steal', its two broadway cards going up against one more hand that has to call two cold and then the blinds. If you are stealing a lot, then you might want to just call here, but in most cases this seems like standard play. You have the advantage against any non A-x, K-x, or pp and BB (possibly SB) will call with a lot worse junk. Try raising it up, I think you'll find that you like it quite a bit.
