And the reason this is - because his mortgage rate at 5.75% is right at the borderline where it makes sense to pay it off as slow as possible and do other things with that money.
See wiggs post in finance on page 4 for more info. |

Personally I'd rather have the $10K be liquid than tied up in the house. [/ QUOTE ] I agree with you, if, a big if, one has discipline to invest the extra. |

Upgrading your memory in a Dell is ultra-easy (physically).
533mhz is as fast as you can go, assuming your MB is configured for it. If not, they will run at the slower speed anyway. You have to put new cards in all four slots. Don't try to use the two you have with two new ones. Good luck! |

Newegg
Kingston ValueRam, Crucial, or Corsair aren't bad and all are cheaper than that place and newegg will have it to your door in 3 days. You just have to figure out if those will work in your Dell. Dells' are picky about what kind of RAM will work in them. |

Does that link in the other post look like a good quality type to buy? |

See Al P's post. Kingston is fine and probably available for the same price or lower at Best Buy. But like he said, be sure to check the specs with Dell for compatibility.

My newegg link was filtered to show only the type of RAM you had originally said (1GB 533Mhz, 240 pin). There's about 50 gabillion choices available. Your Dell should have a sticker with the serial number and dell support should be able to tell you what type of ram you can get (speed/pins/etc..).
Generally newegg is the best place to buy most computer parts because they're reliable, cheap, have fast shipping, and great customer support if anything goes wrong. Search google for newegg rocks and there's 620,000 results. |
