to all the people who say he went through a field of 2600 and won because it was a donk filled field and that proves nothing, gobboboy said that he went to montecarlo because it was filled with horrible players, gobbo got 2nd and he is [censored] praised for being god, playing in a donkey filled field as well, every field has bad players so take advantage yourself instead of bashing players who know how to

[/ QUOTE ]

Another funny thing about the 'field full of donks' tournament argument against Phil is that anyone who has ever played in a tournament of any size knows that it only takes one donk to knock you out. Going through 2600 donks, conceding that point for the sake of the argument, is harder than walking successfully through a minefield.

yeah, getting to amplify your edge over and over again must be really tough.

luckboxing your way to a bracelet is hard.

anyone read the USA Today article on Friday about Hellmuth?

Chan and Doyle made some interesting comments on Phil

Here's the article:

[/ QUOTE ]

from the article: "Brunson said he would take Hellmuth against anybody in a tournament"

Every young player who thinks he knows everything about MTTs might want to consider that.

I hope you're not trying to imply that playing against good players is easier than playing against bad players.

online MTTs dont have donks BTW. like if you play a 500+50, or a 200+20, chances are, all 1 or 5 thousand players are amungst the best players in the world.

This is not the case w/ 1500 or 2500 or 5k or even 10k$ events in the WSOP, b/c about 80% of the field is amateur at best.

This is what I posted in another Phil thread :

[ QUOTE ]

Live poker is ridiculously easy. Phil would be a losing player online. All winning online players can crush the live circuit.

p.s. AND THEY DO so don't reply with any "oh yea why don't they then" crap

p.p.s. Phil is still possibly the best NLHE Live Tournament Player in very weak fields because of his image despite many horrible flaws/leaks in his game. He is that good at abusing bad players.

He is the best at self promotion and cultivating the image that he is the greatest. Since Dec 2004 he has cashed in 3 non wsop non invite tournaments. Add 6 more if you want to go back to June of 2003. If he wasn't running his mouth and on TV all the time, you would barely have heard of him.

To the argument of "he doesn't play that many tournaments" I ask isn't that why there there is a minimum qualification for the batting title in baseball? So someone can't take 50 AB's, bat .450 and declare himself the winner. Ask some online tournament pros how often the beat fields of 400 people.
