[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Everything about this entire telecast made me want to kill myself. The actual game, the cut-scenes of Cub fans, Joe Morgan speaking, it was painful. [/ QUOTE ] I want to stab Miller in the eye every time he says "Bel-TRON". It's BEL-tran you moron. Why does every announcer of the sport except you understand this? [/ QUOTE ] When the accent mark is over the "a", it's Bel-TRON. You are wrong. [/ QUOTE ] I must be. I guess Carlos is also wrong when he says his own name. |

[/ QUOTE ] He can pronounce it however he wants. He can also insist that people pronounce it BEL-tran, if he wants. He can move the accent where he wants it. I doubt he's gone out of his way to tell Jon Miller to pronounce it BELtran though. Miller is just trying to pronounce it correctly, that's all. |

Why do people try so hard to be right on the internet?
The man says his name "CAR-los BEL-tran". Therefore, that is how it is pronounced. It's rather simple. But continue to dissect the details of accent placement, PHB. Yayyyyyyyyyyyyy, you win. |

[ QUOTE ] I particularly liked the intro to the game where they noted that not only TV, but also Radio was invented since the Cubs last won the World Series. [/ QUOTE ] radio was invented before 1908. they probably weren't broadcasting baseball on it yet. yahoo seems to think jacque jones is actually 1-56 after 0-2 counts as opposed to the 0-54 reported on espn last night. does espn.com carry this split data anywhere? i wonder if there's a discrepancy there. [/ QUOTE ] Jacque Jones' splits And my Yahoo says 1/55 whereas my ESPN has 1/54 |
