Pauluka,

Look near the dairy section of your grocery store for fake deli meats.

I'm obviously well aware of these. I'm looking for any secret tips to make them more heavenly. After all, this is a thread for sandwich tips, not for types of sandwiches.

i haven't read all of this, but i'm amused by people telling the resident horseradish addict to possibly try horseradish on his sandwiches.

Soft mini-rolls. Emphasis on the soft.

A lot of bakeries and grocery stores sell em by the dozen, they're about computer-mouse sized and you can eat 3 or 4 different minisandwiches instead of one big sucker. Also convenient when trying out 200 new sandwich techniques you read in an online forum somewhere.

Mr. Diablo,

Consider experimenting with temperature contrast in your sandwiches. It can be very refreshing.

Try a slice of cool onion on a standard toasted sandwich, or some chilled spicy mustard.

1) A quality onion bagel or onion roll is excellent for most sandwiches.

2) Don't toast your bread, grill it. Heat up some olive oil in a pan and grill until golden brown. The outside of your bagel or roll will be still be soft while the inside is warm and crunchy.

3) If you like chips in your sandwich, try french fries.

Edit: When picking a bagel choose wisely. Bagels for sandwiches are like girlfriends, you don't want one with a big hole.

Phill: I grew up in London and still have no idea about half of what you speak of! As for pease pudding, I think most have no idea what it is, but know the nursery rhyme.

Ocho: I thought the toothpick was just for cosmetic purposes.

bk: Yes, like the Mc DLT!

2325: Those are some good sounding suggestions!
