I've spent time in Sydney for work. One thing I always wondered was why a cheeseburger is served with a beet. This didn't happen at an American fast food place, but most sit down or deli type operations. A big red slice of beet which usually sits under the burger patty and soaks the bottom bun with red juice. God I hated that. And when I'd request no beet they'd look at me like I was an alien and then probably spit on my burger.

Other than that issue, I loved everything about Aus and Sydney. Awesome beer that's for sure.

Thats a good point about beets...

Tell them next you are in OZ, send your beets to Ukraine so they can be used for Borshch!!!!

Speaking of OZ Beer -:

Why are there so many good Australian pro golfers? How popular is golf compared to rugby or cricket or football/soccer/whateveryoucallit.

If I were to spend 2-3 months down there, when and where would you recommend I go? Keep in mind that the main reasons for the trip would be to play golf and eat.

What does kangaroo meat taste like?

How long would a flight to or from Chicago take?

The weather has a lot to do with it. Most of the country is like either Florida or California temperature wise.
The outdoors is a great place to stroke the ball and have a walk!

Since it is not a team sport I would compare it to tennis and OZ has produced many a great tennis player.

I would recommend Queensland and Victoria. Both states have good golf courses and food should not be a problem as discussed about Melbourne.

Similiar to the way venison must be prepare...
It was exported to Asia at one time. I don't know if it still is.

Your looking at about 24 hours with layovers.

Most routes go through LA and Hawaii but my mother has travelled through Japan and Narita Airport the last 4 trips on her way to JFK.

Chicken.

Between 13 and 15 hours from LAX. So I would guess another 3-4 hour flight to LAX. I was in the air 20 hours once because we went around a big storm.

Actual wall clock time might differ depending on time of year due to our daylight savings adjustments.

The flight sux in general, but Quantis and NZ Air both offered unlimited food and drinks at no charge.

Evil,

I am going to meet some family that live in Australia for the first time and my sister wants to go to central australia. I am 20 years old, do you think this will be a fun way to spend two weeks?

[/ QUOTE ]

There is NOTHING in Central Australia. Once you go to Ayers Rock for a day you will be bored out of your mind. If you are going to be in one place I would have reccomended Cairns but I am not sure how they are doing after that recent storm. I've heard the rainforests in the north and Perth are both nice. The Gold Coast could be fun too.

I am from America but lived in Australia for 6 months.

ACtually, it depends what you want to do.
Central Australia is unique.
I've been to Ayers rock, climbed it (a heresy according to the local aborigines) and The Olgas. Also to Alice Springs a couple of times.
The is a casino in The Alice but I don't know if poker is spread.

The outback has its own beat. Of course if you want the bar scene and chicks in scantilly clad attire then the Gold Coast would suit.

Is there a chance Carlton will not finish bottom of the AFL this season?

I certainly hope so.

As to the guy who asked about all the nasty animals down here, he forgot about one: the vicous Koala

Don't believe me? Read this.

AuZZies don't talk like the crocodile hunter. Either he was dropped on his head or he uses the image to market himself for the US.

2 weeks of warm and tropical is the way to go.
