[ QUOTE ]
The bacon statement is only true if you're preparing the bacon or the place at which you are eating uses good bacon. Bad bacon is like doubly bad, because you're missing out on a bacon opportunity and having to eat greasy leather.

[/ QUOTE ]
Ok, fair enough. I've never had "bad bacon", though I can imagine it wouldn't be very good if it weren't cooked well. I guess low quality meat wouldn't be good either, but bacon is pretty crappy meat to start with I think. Overall, I don't think saying "bacon is an improvement" is a particularly risky statement.

Most of your cold deli meat type sandwiches are improved with the addition of sprouts.

I love the chip option btw. Doritios original flavor esp. Great addition to a sandwich. As kids my sister and I used to put salami on peanut butter and jam sandwiches. I recall doing it more than once, so apparently it wasn't horrible.

I can't get the link to the actual Maxim magazine article because of the filters at work, but this USA Today article talks about Maxim Magazine naming the "Fat Darrell" as the best in the USA.

Here's the pic:

I happen to be a sandwich expert. Here are a few nuggets I have picked up along the way to my expertise ...

Various salad dressings are usually the best spread to add taste to your masterpiece. I'm talking about using some ranch, blue cheese, Italian, or even western dressings instead of butter/margerine/mayo/mustard. The dressings often have superior spices and flavors.

If you are in a breakfast mood ... try a grilled cheese sandwhich and then lay a couple over-easy eggs or sunny side up on top of it. It's messy but it'll satisfy.

Always use a roll of some kind if possible. Sourdough is my favorite but any thick crusty roll will always beat sliced loaf bread.

If you are preparing a sandwich to eat later .. say for lunch at work .. and you like tomato/pickle/lettuce .. put the condiments in a small ziplock and assemble the masterpiece just before you intend to cram it in your body.

Do not underestimate vegtable based condiments. Onions, pickles, tomatos, peppers, lettuce ... etc. Sometimes the thought isn't immediatly appealing but overall they add quite a punch to the masterpiece.

If possible always eat a sandwhich while bangin a hot chick from behind in the doggy position. In this position you will find that the small of her back is an excellent table top to set the masterpiece down while you get more intese banging in. This will improve the experience immensely. (the small of the back is also an excellent spot to set a bowl of cereal and milk, but soup might be too hot for her, YMMV).

And no I can't spell so eff it.

Aloy: in SF, the place to go is Saigon Sandwiches.

Evan: Bacon makes most everything better.

round: I'm hot and cold when it comes to sprouts.

astro: avocado is definitely money.

This sandwich is GREAT: "Brickhouse Melt $7.50
Turkey & Bacon grilled on Multi-grain bread with Tomatoes, Avocados, Sprouts, Swiss & Cheddar cheese" (http://www.brickhousesf.com/dinner.php)

russ: when making sandwiches at home, it's usually no vegetables or just lettuce. When out, it's usually lettuce and onions - and green bell peppers if I'm at a subway. I'm not a fan of tomatoes on sandwiches.

bigscore: Grilled cheese sandwiches are heavenly? That's your contribution to the sandwich tips thread? That grilled cheese sandwiches are good? OK. Thanks, I guess.

Trik: Thanks, please keep the tips coming!

I like to butter the outsides of the bread and then throw the sandwich in the toaster oven. Comes out tasting sort of like grilled cheese but with less mess to cleanup.

[/ QUOTE ]

Be careful when doing this. I once started a fire in my toaster oven. I was 5 and haven't tried this method since.

I thought from the heading that this was going to be another thread about tipping. Whew.

I'm usually too lazy to make my own sandwiches. Thankfully, there's always a Cajun Chicken Sandwich waiting for me at Chili's. Yum.

El D,

You like crunchy stuff on sandwiches. You like horseradish. Have you ever put wasabi peas on one. I haven't, but I may try now.
